No Man Behind was founded by Sean P. Jackson on a simple principle: the debate over incarceration should be grounded in verifiable numbers, not slogans.

Why lead with data?

Tough and soft are adjectives; policy should run on evidence. Data on who is incarcerated, for what, at what cost, and with what outcomes turns an abstract argument into a picture that communities can actually see and act on. When the numbers are on the table, the conversation gets more honest.

What the numbers make clear

The United States incarcerates more people per capita than any other nation on earth — a reality measured in millions of people and felt most heavily in specific communities and counties. Behind each figure is a family and a neighborhood. No Man Behind exists to keep that human scale in view while still respecting what the evidence shows.

How we source it

Our approach is receipts-first: public records, court dockets, corrections and clerk-of-court data, and reputable national datasets — cited so anyone can check the work. We would rather show a smaller, verifiable number than a large, unsourced one.
